Daniel Akpeyi, the Super Eagles goalkeeper will be eligible to apply for South African citizenship next season, reports Sporting Life.
Akpeyi arrived in the country in 2015, meaning at the end of the current campaign he would have completed a five year stay in South Africa.
The 33-year-old signed from Warri Rovers for Chippa United, before joining Amakhosi in January 2018 after being injured by Itumeleng Khune.
Akpeyi managed to retain the No.1 shirt at the club, relegating Khune to the bench, this season in particular.
Nonetheless, in order for the Soweto giants to use the space left in their international allocation, they will have to win their appeal against the FIFA-imposed two-window transfer ban in February this year.
With Akpeyi set to be registered as a local player, Chiefs will be able to register a foreign international.
