Ace broadcaster Piers Morgan has revealed that it was actually Sir Alex Ferguson that convinced Cristiano Ronaldo to return to Old Trafford.
As of yesterday the 36-year-old Portugal international was heading to the blue half of Manchester.
However, there was a sudden development on Friday and the Portuguese now finds himself back at Old Trafford where he once spent six successful years.
Morgan, who had an exclusive one-on-one interview with Ronaldo last year said that his return to the Red Devils did not shock him.
The 56-year-old tweeted: “Not surprised that [Ronaldo] is returning to United after speaking to Sir Alex Ferguson.
“When I interviewed him, his respect & admiration for ‘The Boss’ was off the charts.
“He’s been like a second father to him, especially since the sad early death of Cristiano’s dad.”
Ferguson signed Ronaldo from Sporting Lisbon and the then youngster went on to become a United legend.
