Atletico Madrid midfielder, Saul Niguez is set for a shock move to Premier League giants, Chelsea.
The Telegraph reports that Chelsea are planning a last-ditch loan move for Niguez this summer.
The report added that Chelsea’s bid to sign the Spain international hinges on whether the Blues can trim manager Thomas Tuchel’s other midfield options who are not part of the first-team plans for this season.
Chelsea will have to battle Manchester United, who are also interested in signing Niguez.
Atletico Madrid valued Niguez for €45million (£38million).
Niguez has played in both of Atletico Madrid’s two games in the new LaLiga season so far and the Spanish champions have registered wins against Celta Vigo and Elche.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have already completed their major signing this month by landing Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan in a £97.5 million deal.
The UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup winners have targeted Sevilla centre-back, Jules Kounde, this summer but are looking to offload Kurt Zouma to West Ham before they press ahead with that deal.
