Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard, has said he left on the bench for their 2-1 victory at Aston Villa because he is trying to handle his squad efficiently.
After the COVID-19 break Abraham and Christian Pulisic were replaced with the Blues’ first game back.
Lampard opted to start attacking with Willian and Olivier Giroud, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek also made a comeback from his long-term injury.
“It is very important to let the players know this is a squad game in this period more than ever before.
“Of course no one should get their head down when they don’t start. We will have to make subs and we’ll need to have an impact off the bench, “Lampard told Sky Sports.
Pulisic and Giroud scored for Chelsea, as they fought back from a goal down to take all three points.
