Manchester City have been advised to sign Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rather than Tottenham wantaway striker Harry Kane.
City have been chasing Kane all summer but yet to come close to match Spurs asking price, understood to be in the region of £150million.
With a little over a week left in the transfer window, City are expected to launch one last push for Kane but former Gunners forward Charlie Nicholas says Aubameyang is a cut-price alternative.
Arsenal are reportedly ready to sell Aubameyang, less than a year after making him their highest-paid player.
Nicholas told the ‘Where’s Jeff’ podcast: “[City] could go for someone like Aubameyang.
“It looks like something is going wrong at Arsenal at the moment, and we do know Aubameyang scores goals. He’s got pace, and he’s got movement.
“I prefer him on the left, but I could see something like that materialise. It gives Manchester City a cheaper option. He’s not as good as Kane, but he’s as good a finisher as Kane.”
