Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov, has offered reasons why the Man united shouldn’t sign midfielder, Philippe Coutinho, this summer’s transfer window from Barcelona.
Coutinho has been linked in recent days to a move to Man United.
Coutinho is currently on loan from Barcelona, until the end of the season at German Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich.
Bayern Munich has already made it clear, that they will not sign on to a permanent contract, with the 27-year-old Brazilian until his loan ends at the end of the season.
In 2018 Coutinho joined Barca from Liverpool for £142million.
But Berbatov believes that signing Coutinho would be pointless for Man United, adding that they already have the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay.
“Other people will see Coutinho being linked to a move to Man United, but honestly, he is not needed by the Red Devils right now,” Berbatov told Betfair.
“Man United has Bruno Fernandes, who is a player very close to that. He has hit the running ground, and looks like a very promising signing so I don’t think Man United would have any point in signing him.
“All the same, Pogba is coming back, Fernandes is there, McTominay is still delivering fantastic football and they’ve got enough quality there to make it futile to sign Coutinho.”
